Which settings to try first
If your saved pins are hard to tell apart, start with the markers. A color or icon can identify your accommodation or a lunch option at a glance. You can choose the app’s overall theme separately.
App theme and accent color
Appearance settings let you choose light or dark mode and a theme color. The accent changes interface elements such as buttons. Set the appearance of place markers separately.
Check it on your own screen
Compare both modes on a map you use regularly. Look at place names and pin colors. A setting that works on your monitor in the evening may look different on a phone outdoors.
When satellite view helps
Standard view makes streets and labels easier to read. Satellite view helps you look around a pin, for example to see where buildings sit in relation to a beach. Switch views according to what you need to check.
A satellite image cannot confirm that an entrance is open or a path is currently usable. Check route information before relying on it for access.
Pin colors and icons
Choose labels you can remember. Use a bed icon for accommodation and a category for food stops. If colors indicate whether you have visited a place, keep that meaning for later trips too.
Zoom out after making changes. Check whether you can recognize the main stops without opening their details. Change shades that look too similar.
Connecting places into a route
Connect selected markers in the order you plan to visit them. Start with one day. If the line crosses the same area several times, see whether a different stop order would work.
These connections help you lay out a plan. Before setting off, check the actual journey and travel time in navigation or the operator’s timetable.
Several cities on one map
A trip through Berlin, Prague, Vienna and Budapest is one example of using connections for separate stages. Add points in the cities and connect them in your planned order. Then zoom in on one stage to add possible stops.
If you add another place along the way, return to the full route view. Check whether the detour fits the time you have available.
