When your map gets crowded
You are planning a weekend in Barcelona, but your map still shows places from last summer. A separate group will keep the new trip’s stops together and make them easier to return to.
Categories describe what a place is. A hotel and a museum can belong to the same Barcelona group while having different categories.
A group for each trip
Create a group and give it a name that identifies the trip. If you return to a city often, include a month or year. “Barcelona, September 2026” will distinguish this plan from a previous visit.
One group is usually enough for a weekend. On a longer trip, you can separate days if that makes the map easier to use. You do not need a new group for every walk.
Categories describe the place
Choose categories that match how you look for places. If you usually pick a café after sightseeing, a café category lets you filter for saved options without opening unrelated pins.
Start with categories you actually need. Add more when you save something that does not fit. A very detailed system can become difficult to use too.
- Accommodation: booked places or options you are considering.
- Food: one category for all venues, or separate ones for restaurants and cafés.
- Sightseeing: saved landmarks and museums.
- Transport: useful stops for getting around.
Spread your stops across the trip
Open your Barcelona group and look at the pins. Start around your accommodation. If several places you want to visit are close together, consider them for the same morning.
Then consider the stops farther away. Allow time for the visits as well as travel: two neighboring museums could fill a day. The map shows their locations; you decide the pace.
Ideas for another time
A group can hold places without a travel date attached. If you are interested in mountain huts, save them as you find recommendations. Note what caught your attention so you will still know why you saved a pin six months later.
